REPORT ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE VISAKHAPATNAM REGIONAL CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL MARITIME FOUNDATION FROM ITS INCEPTION IN SEPTEMBER 2009 TO 2012 WITH A. PRASANNA KUMAR AS THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR

Following the letter of Cmde C.Uday Bhaskar, Director National Maritime Foundation dated August 9,2009 appointing Prof A.Prasanna Kumar as NMF Regional Coordinator, a preliminary meeting was convened on September 24, 2009 attended by the following.

I think there can be no better proof of the dedication, resourcefulness and initiative of the Regional Director, Prof. Prasanna Kumar, that he has managed to launch this chapter on a high trajectory with minimal support from New Delhi. We are indeed fortunate to have him at the helm of things in Vizag. Needless to say, none of this would have been possible, but for the strong and steadfast support given to us by Vice-Adm Anup Singh, in his own silent but resolute style.

I think we have done well. Also, I hope this will be an ongoing process. I must also make mention of the Regional Director of NMF, Professor Prasanna Kumar, and the sterling services that he has rendered to this organization, and to the maritime cause. Self propelled, self motivated person that he is, he has rendered yeoman service and I am fully grateful to him and I would like to express my appreciation for it.

It is indeed a privilege to be present for yet another initiative of the relatively young but brilliant, National Maritime Foundation, Visakhapatnam Regional Chapter. Its Director, Professor Prasanna Kumar has so ably garnered the time, interest, knowledge and efforts of intelligentsia, of not only this city, but also from centres of learning, such as JNU, for this seminar. We therefore have the wonderful opportunity of listening to some very interesting thoughts from the very learned people that we have amongst us today.
